DS Waters® is Dedicated to the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Despite amazing advances in breast cancer prevention and treatment, it remains the most common form of cancer and the second-leading cause of cancer death among U.S. women.1 DS Waters® supports breast cancer research, awareness and education through its partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and through sales of Athena® bottled water.

Working Together for the Cause

DS Waters® will contribute a minimum of $1,000,000 by 2014 by contributing a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Athena® bottled water to breast cancer awareness, education and research. In addition to the Athena program, DS Waters also supports

Susan G. Komen for the Cure® by donating $30* for every new customer who starts service with the Komen Budget Plan (with a minimum guaranteed donation of $100,000 per year through 2016). Other initiatives include in kind product donations for breast cancer outreach events, employee giving programs, and associate and customer participation in community fundraising events.

A story of hope

DS Waters® Pasadena, CA call center associate Terri Valdez realizes the impact finding a cure will have. Her grandmother survived breast cancer and celebrated her 80th birthday. Terri's mother recovered from two mastectomies. Her sister is in chemotherapy treatment for the next 12 months.

 

"I no longer take life or good health for granted," says Terri. "I see life differently now. I appreciate my family more and enjoy trips with my daughter and sisters to tropical locations. These trips have been priceless."

 

Terri now has annual mammograms. She and her daughter, Jennifer, who also works at the DS Waters® call center, do their parts by buying from companies that support the cause. They also participate in breast cancer walks, which Terri will continue, "as long as she can walk." Her motto, "Live life to the fullest," is consistent with her family's resolve to thrive amid adversity.
